According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), periodontal disease is the most commonly diagnosed problem in dogs and cats. In fact, 70-80% of dogs and cats have periodontal disease by the time they are 3 years old.
Periodontal disease is the infection of the structures around teeth, like gum, tooth ligament and bone. It can not only lead to bad breath, but also result in painful infections, tooth loss and other serious condition like heart, lung, liver, and kidneys problems. If left untreated, it will decrease your pet’s longevity.
Daily home dental care, routine veterinary exams, and dental preventive cleanings under anesthesia are essential to prevent periodontal disease. Doing all this is proven to extend your pet’s life by years!
